Atlanta Falcons, San Francisco 49ers will host Storm Johnson

Storm Johnson is overshadowed by a different 2014 NFL Draft prospect from the UCF Knights backfield in top four QB prospect Blake Bortles, but Johnson is a talented player worth watching closely in the pre-draft process. I think he’s an underrated player who could be a steal on the third day of the draft, and he might be a better prospect than Baylor Bears RB Lache Seastrunk, who has more hype than his AAC counterpart.
Johnson told the Bleacher Report’s Matt Miller that he will visit the San Francisco 49ers this coming Monday, and he added that the Atlanta Falcons will host him on the 22nd of the month. It’s unclear if Johnson will have more workouts lined up, but it’s good to see that two contenders are interested in him.
As it stands right now, Johnson looks like a good change-of-pace back, especially in a passing offense like Atlanta’s. I’m not sure if they would want another all-purpose RB with Jacquizz Rodgers already locked in behind starting back Steven Jackson, but Johnson looks like a nice fit on paper as an RB3. He would also still be an asset on a deep 49ers backfield, though I wonder if he’s better of joining a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers. Johnson has the size, hands, and vision to be a good running back in this league, so he has starting upside. He has all the tools to be an eventual starter, so he could go in the middle rounds of this year’s draft. I would keep a close eye on him going forward.
