Just 5 months removed from a gruesome ACL injury, former Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray is starting to draw some interest from several NFL teams, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Interested teams include: The Browns, Rams, Patriots, Jaguars, Dolphins, Lions and Titans. Murray was unable to participate in the NFL combine and got a very late start on his private workouts. But, the upcoming rookie said that he will throw at Georgia’s Pro Day on Wednesday.
Murray would be a good mid to late round pick for a team that could potentially need a suitable quarterback in the next couple of years. The Rams fit this mold well seeing that if Sam Bradford cannot produce this season, he is likely to be cut next offseason. But, if Bradford plays well enough to get an extension, Murray would be able to be a solid backup.
Murray is a suitable backup for now, but if he shines at his Pro Day, the 4-year college starter could potentially battle for a starting job this offseason. Looking at a team like the Jags or Browns, Murray could be a mid round pick, and still come in and fight for a spot. This frees those teams up to possibly pick a weapon in one of their earlier picks. Now that scenario is highly unlikely, but it just shows how versatile Murray could be.
Murray will be a very interesting prospect if he can show that his knee is healing well and he can still play at a high level at his Pro Day on Wednesday.
