2004 Pick: Larry Fitzgerald
Although Manning’s still on the board here, and might have more value, there’s no way the Cardinals are changing anything about their selection of Fitzgerald. Not only has he been one of the best wideouts since he came into the league, but he’s already, at age 30, the greatest player in Cardinals history. Might as well retire that 11 jersey now.
As the holder of virtually every major Cardinals receiving record and also a slew of NFL receiving records, Fitzgerald came in and was immediately part of a two-headed monster with Anquan Boldin on the outside. In 2008, Fitz separated himself with a monster 2008 postseason that put him in the conversation as “Best WR in Football” status along with Andre Johnson (a title they both gave up to Megatron a few years later).
The league is flush with great receivers now and Fitzgerald has taken a back seat to some younger, faster and more athletic guys, but after a lost year in 2012 due to miserable QB play, he bounced back last season to grab 10 touchdowns. Playing out in Arizona, Fitzgerald might be overlooked from time to time, but he still has the best hands in the NFL.
