New Pick: Eli Manning

2004 Pick: Philip Rivers (traded to Chargers)

Wouldn’t you know it, Eli ends up with the Giants all along. Like a lot of teams, Giants fans truly have a love/hate relationship with their quarterback, and in a way, they deserve each other. For this draft, Manning’s in New York, and he didn’t have to force a trade to get there.

Manning marks the third QB in our first four picks. With the top three QBs taken in 2004 all going on to have great careers, teams who took a passer in Round 1 got it right (Except for Buffalo. Sorry J.P. Losman). Even though each of our big three QBs have had their shaky moments, Eli is the only one who lead the league in interceptions three times.

For all his faults, it must be mentioned that Manning has lead the Giants to two of the more fascinating and unlikely Super Bowl runs in recent years. And Giants fans, if you’re mad about your two-time Super Bowl MVP slipping to No. 4, at least you still get your guy.
