We are running through our FanSided NFL Mock draft at the moment. This is where the editors around the network make the selections for their teams. We will be publishing the entire mock when it is complete on this site and will post each selection individually as they come in as well.
Here are the selections that have already been made by our FanSided editors:
1. Houston Texans | Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina |
2. St. Louis Rams (from Washington Redskins) | Khalil Mack, LB, Buffalo |
3. Jacksonville Jaguars | Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville |
4. Cleveland Browns | Derek Carr, QB Fresno State |
5. Oakland Raiders | Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson |
6. Atlanta Falcons | Jake Matthews, OT, Texas A&M |
7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M |
With the 2nd pick in the NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select…
FanSided
Blake Bortles, QB, UCF
Selection made by Dan Zinski, The Viking Age
Here is the analysis on the selection:
The Vikings would dearly love to trade down and still draft their QB. Bortles is the one QB I could see them taking with the #8.
I’m not sure I love any of the defensive options at 8. I could see them moving down and taking Anthony Barr or C.J. Mosley or Kyle Fuller. Given the way this mock has gone, I have to go Bortles here. On the surface, he seems to be the best fit for Norv Turner.
They have Matt Cassel and can afford to groom Bortles for a year. There’s a lot of buzz for Bortles now with Kiper and McShay both mocking him to the Vikings.
