After quarterback Eli Manning had arguably his worst season of his career, the Giants knew that they needed to add a new weapon for him to throw to; especially after the departure of Hakeem Nicks. The Giants did just that by selecting LSU wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. with their 12th pick.
Beckham has roadrunner-type speed and great hands that will carry over nicely in the NFL. He can also be a huge factor in the return game for the Giants as well. Eli Manning needs someone to throw to other than salsa-dancing receiver Victor Cruz, and Beckham will be a great addition to that offense.
He can line up out wide, but he can also line up in the slot and use his speed to cover the middle of the field. After Manning threw nearly 30 interceptions last season, he needs someone that can get open. Now, some of of those interceptions were a result of a poor offensive line, but that position is so deep in the draft it was hard for them to pass on Beckham Jr.
A smart pick here for the Giants at 12.
