Aqib Talib takes Peyton Manning over Tom Brady

Denver Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib is just the latest player to join the team after starring for the New England Patriots, as he joined Wes Welker on the defending AFC champions in an effort to bolster what is now an incredibly scary defense as the Broncos gun for a Super Bowl ring under Peyton Manning. Talib was named the 79th-best payer in the NFL on the NFL Network’s top 100 list, and he had some interesting quotes during the unveiling of his ranking.

Not only did Talib join Welker in stating that the vibe of the Broncos organization significantly differs from the Pats, but he also decided to spit his own take on the whole Peyton Manning vs. Tom Brady debate, which is undoubtedly going to lead to some controversy. Talib didn’t shy away from it, though, and I’m sure we’re going to hear more outspokenness from the star corner, who showed flashes of brilliant Talibisms during his time with the Patriots (such as stating that he only pays attention to NBA stuff and not the NFL rumor mill).

Although Talib stated that Brady is a “good friend” of his, he said he’d take Manning over Brady. Why? Pretty vanilla reasons, honestly. Here’s the quote, courtesy of CSNNE’s Tom E. Curran, “You gotta go Peyton Manning. Tom is a good friend of mine, what’s up Tom, baby. (Manning) had an awesome year. He tore it up. He like set the record for touchdowns. He beat Tom in the AFC Championship. You gotta give it to Peyton. Tom know that’s my dog man, he know.”

Don’t read too much into this, folks. Talib is just praising a teammate and giving some tame reasons to back up the statement, so it’s important not to overreact. Still, I find it interesting that Talib didn’t give the even more bland, “They’re both great. It is what it is.” response.
