Kyle Shanahan: Johnny Manziel “Very Similar” to Robert Griffin III
By Ricky Widmer
This week on the podcast, Ricky Widmer, Dave Oster, and Mark Weber take a closer look at comments made by Browns’ offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan about rookie quarterback Johnny Manziel.
In an interview with USA Today, Shanahan went on to say that Manziel is “very similar” to Robert Griffin III.
“You have to have some special magic, swagger to you that you can get the job done. And Johnny demonstrated that as good as anyone who’s ever played college football. And we think he’ll be able to carry it over.”
The guys look at Shanahan’s comments and discuss if this is true, and what it means for Cleveland Browns fans moving forward when it comes to Johnny Manziel.
Second, the guys look at the recent OTA injury of Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee. They talk about what the injury means for both Lee and the Boys, and how Dallas will fare this season without their defensive signal caller in 2014.
They also look at how this injury might put some more unneeded pressure on Tony Romo as Dallas looks to make the playoffs for the first time since 2009.
Lastly, Ricky, Dave, and Mark discuss Gil Brandt’s list of teams that have a chance at ending their playoff drought in 2014. The guys look at the Buccaneers, Bills, Browns, and Rams to see which of these teams could surprise some people this season and finally make it into the playoffs.
