Michael Vick wants to be in the game for another 6+ years. He wants to play past his 40s. He is 34 years old right now and he wants to stick around for a while.
"“I want to play until I’m 40,” the Jets quarterback told Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News on Thursday."
If Vick is going to be sitting around as a backup quarterback for most of that time, then he shouldn’t have much of an issue doing so. He won’t have to take the hits from running around with the football and should stay healthy.
Vick is battling for some playing time with the New York Jets this year. He still has the talent to be a starting quarterback in the league, but as he gets older, teams will be looking for younger models that can run the starting job for years and years down the road.
It won’t be easy for Vick to find that starting job, but if he gets the opportunity to get back as a starter, I am sure that he would prove to be a playmaker. If Geno has a misstep or has to go to the sideline with an injury, Vick will be a nice option to put onto the field.
