Jadeveon Clowney will play against Washington Redskins
Houston Texans No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney is gearing up to deliver some punishing hits on Washington Redskins star quarterback Robert Griffin III, whose rushing style leads him to become a glutton for punishment. Clowney explodes into the backfield as quickly as any edge rusher in this league, and he certainly has the talent in front of him on the defensive line to find openings. While he is more raw than some think, he’s so gifted athletically that it doesn’t matter, and the scary thing is how great he’ll be once everything comes together later on in his career.

For now, Clowney’s mission is to put forward a solid debut against RG3 and the Redskins, and the Houston Chronicle’s Brian T. Smith reports that Clowney will indeed play on Sunday after dealing with an undisclosed injury that he suffered in joint practices with the Denver Broncos during the preseason.
Texans head coach Bill O’Brien confirmed this, as Clowney returned to practice today after sitting out the team’s final two preseason games. Most rookies need those reps, but Clowney is so good that his health was far more important. Tyler Polumbus better be as good as he was last season, otherwise Clowney could beat up on the right tackle. Over on the left side, Trent Williams is a rock, so that will present a great challenge for him..
