5. Cordarralle Patterson’s Emergence

The Cordarralle Patterson show is just beginning in Minnesota this year. He is in the process of exposing to the entire country what the Vikings already know — that he’s an extremely rare talent. He came onto the scene last year, but this year he will take that next step. His speed is incredible and this marquee matchup with the reeling Patriots is the perfect time for him to cement his message. And that message is that he will be a force to be reckoned with for the foreseeable future. The Vikings will continue to use him in creative ways and he’ll definitely be a focal point of the Patriots’ defensive game plan. Patriots safety Devin McCourty is already talking about Patterson. The focus on him will open the door for the greatest running back of this generation, Adrian Peterson.

In week one Patterson ran for 102 yards and one score and caught three passes for two first downs. The Pats showed that they couldn’t stop the Dolphins in the second half in week one and the Vikings match up very similarly. Patterson will have a big game against Patriots’ cornerback Darrelle Revis. Revis is an elite cover corner, but Minnesota will get Patterson the ball in the open field, and behind the line of scrimmage, which will neutralize Revis’ affect on the the game dramatically. Because of this, the Patriots will continue to stumble out of the gate in 2014.
