Antonio Brown fined $8,200 for Spencer Lanning kick

Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Antonio Brown had a whale of a ballgame against the Cleveland Browns last week, as he dismantled the AFC North rivals with a five-catch, 116-yard performance that included a touchdown. As always, Brown was brutally efficient with his targets, needing just six attempts from Ben Roethlisberger to turn in those outstanding numbers. He’s clearly one of the league’s most consistent vertical threats, and he can also move the chains in the intermediate game with relative ease. With Brown and Markus Wheaton, Roethlisberger has one of the most dynamic wide receiver duos on his hands, and it will be a joy to watch them both go to work throughout the season.

  • Although Brown’s big day against Browns star cornerback Joe Haden was incredibly impressive, he made headlines for a different reason, as his karate-kid on Browns punter Spencer Lanning went viral for unsurprising reasons. He told reporters that he spoke with Lanning about the incident, which the Browns punter actually denied. That said, Brown has, of course, been punished after receiving a flag during the game, and a source confirms to ESPN NFL Nation’s Scott Brown that Antonio Brown has been fined $8,200 by the league for the kick.

It’s a punishment he deserves, but his biggest worry and ailment at this point isn’t the loss of money; it’s the fact that he left tonight’s game against the Baltimore Ravens with a possible concussion and is questionable to return. Brown is an amazing receiver and an important player for the Steelers, so hopefully he’s fine and can return to help the Steelers beat their bitter rivals.
