Eddie Lacy listed probable

Green Bay Packers star running back Eddie Lacy certainly benefited from a long week of rest, because it probably would have meant the difference between playing this week against the New York Jets or sitting out with a concussion that he suffered in the Thursday Night Football regular season opener against the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. Lacy struggled on the stat sheet in that game behind some awful blocking, and the injury to Bryan Bulaga didn’t help matters, as he was held to just 34 yards on 12 carries despite doing a good job of making defenders miss. Lacy won’t have it any easier this week against the Jets vaunted run defense, but I’d still expect better numbers from him.

  • Lacy has officially been listed as probable on the Packers injury report, and he’s going to roll with his old helmet again after deciding that it wasn’t the helmet that caused the concussions. Some say it’s his running style, though tweaking it would lead to less yardage, since his smashmouth style of play is part of what makes him so difficult to bring down.

He practiced fully yesterday, so there’s no doubt that he’s way past his concussion issues and is a full lock to play this week. There are times, though, when concussion symptoms come back when a player is locked in and cleared, so it would be wise for fantasy owners to keep monitoring his status just in case. Trust me, I know this from experience. Lacy has a tough matchup, but he’s such a great player that he can have legitimate success against the Jets, especially if Aaron Rodgers gets on a roll against a weak secondary.
