Cleveland Browns star tight end Jordan Cameron suffered an AC sprain early in training camp, and he aggravated that injury in last week’s 30-27 overtime loss at the hands of the rival Pittsburgh Steelers. Cameron caught two passes for 47 yards in the near-comeback effort before going down, and he hasn’t been able to practice at all this week. That usually indicates a player will not play on Sunday, but the Browns aren’t ruling Cameron out just yet.

Factory of Sadness
According to the Akron Beacon Journal’s Nate Ulrich, Browns head coach Mike Pettine is holding out hope that Cameron and second-year edge rusher Barkevious Mingo can play this week against the New Orleans Saints. Not only do the Browns need all the help when rushing Drew Brees, but they definitely can’t afford to lose their best offensive weapon, as they have to at least somewhat keep up with the Saints high-octane attack.
If Cameron is unable to play, then Andrew Hawkins will be the team’s clear leader in receptions. Without Ben Tate, the running game will be ruled by rookies Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell, who are more than capable of having big days. This Browns offense isn’t as bad as some thought coming into the season, but they could find it very difficult to score this week if Cameron can’t play against a Saints defense that is sure to bounce-back from being shredded by three elite players in Matt Ryan, Julio Jones, and Roddy White. We’ll see what Cameron’s injury designation is, and I tentatively expect Pettine to list him as questionable instead of probable in order to leave his status more up-in-the-air so that we- and the Saints- keep guessing.
