Shaun Hill expected to sit, Austin Davis expected to start
The St. Louis Rams will likely start their third-string quarterback today against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, as Shaun Hill doesn’t sound healthy enough to play after suffering a thigh injury during the first half of last week’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Although Hill is one of the best backup quarterbacks in the game, he was flat-out bad last week, and he was outplayed by injury replacement Austin Davis, who went 16-23 with an average of 8.3 yards per attempt but also had one interception with no TDs to his name. Davis’s tools and health make him the most likely starter for the Rams, as top beat writer Jim Thomas fully expects him to draw the start.

FOX Sports’s Mike Garafolo has a similar report, as he reports that the Rams are indeed expected to sit Hill and start Davis today against the Buccaneers, and he added that this “has been and continues to be” the expectation.
So yeah, pencil in Shaun Hill on the inactive list and Davis on the field, and it will be interesting to see if he can have a solid game and supplant Hill as the starter. The Buccaneers aren’t an easy matchup at all with talented players such as Gerald McCoy, Alterraun Verner, and Lavonte David (just to name three), so Davis will have to be on top of his game in order to give the Rams a chance.
