Tampa Bay Buccaneers Gerald McCoy out for rest of game
Tampa Bay Buccaneers star defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is one of the most dominant players n the NFL today, and he showed his worth last week in a loss to the Carolina Panthers by controlling the line of scrimmage in all facets of the game. McCoy can get to the quarterback quickly with excellent strength, leverage, and quickness, and he’s also very difficult to beat in run defense. The centerpiece of the Buccaneers defense, McCoy is almost irreplaceable, because he just might be the best 4-3 DT in the league (Geno Atkins and Ndamukong Suh are obviously right there with him).

Unfortunately, the NFL Network reports that McCoy is out for the rest of today’s game against the St. Louis Rams with a hand injury, and hopefully this ailment doesn’t linger and cause him to miss more than just today’s game. Clinton McDonald is a very good DT and an underrated offseason signing, but losing McCoy for a few weeks would be a crushing blow.
The Rams-Buccaneers game is currently being postponed due to lighting issues with the score knotted by at 7-7 thanks to rushing touchdowns from Rams No. 1 back Zac Stacy and Buccaneers veteran QB Josh McCown, whose TD was a five-yard play. McCoy did not record any stats before leaving, though fellow top stars Alterraun Verner and Lavonte Davis have one tackle for loss each.
