Tavon Austin out about two weeks with sprained MCL
San Diego Chargers feature back Ryan Mathews is expected to miss 4-5 weeks with a sprained MCL that he suffered in yesterday’s impressive victory over the Seattle Seahawks, and another skill position player looks set to miss some time with an MCL sprain.

St. Louis Rams second-year wide receiver Tavon Austin went down in the second quarter of yesterday’s gritty, Austin Davis-led 19-17 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and he needed testing done on a knee injury that did not look good at all when it went down.
Per a source close to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Austin will miss about two weeks after being diagnosed with a sprained MCL, so it isn’t a huge blow to him or the Rams. I mean, it looked like he would be out for longer, so a two-week injury is manageable for both sides. Hopefully he has no issues, because we all want to see a healthy Austin make good on the potential that caused him to skyrocket on draft day, though that may have largely been due to his exceptional forty time. Still, Austin is an exciting and agile player, and the Rams aren’t in a position where they can afford any more injuries to key players (for obvious reasons, at this point).
