Eric Decker Injury: New York Jets WR did not undergo an MRI
New York Jets star wide receiver Eric Decker suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers, and, looking back, his injury in the second half put the nail in the coffin for the Jets. The Packers were already coming back, but Decker’s injury ended the hope of Geno Smith coming back and continuing his dominance earlier in the game. With the Jets only major threat in the passing game out, the Packers secondary tightened up, and both Tramon Williams and Sam Shields deserve plenty of praise for their solid play so far this year.

Anyway, Decker was unsurprisingly not at practice today, but the good news is that he at least has an extra day to get healthy with the team’s Week 3 game set for Monday night against the Chicago Bears. Decker is in a raise to get healthy enough to practice, because, for our intents and purposes, he needs to practice at least once in order to play.
Decker’s hamstring injury has been referred to as a pull and aggravation of a training camp injury, but the good news is that ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini reports that Decker didn’t need an MRI. Per Cimini, Decker confirmed that the injury is an aggravation and added that he doesn’t think it’s a tear, with the lack of an MRI indicating that the Jets medical staff feels the same way. He has a real shot at getting healthy enough to play this week, and losing him for any amount of time would be a tough blow for the playmaker-thin Jets.
