Green Bay Packers Micah Hyde will play this week
Green Bay Packers second-year safety Micah Hyde was a pleasant surprise as a rookie out of Iowa last year, as the defensive back showed off plenty of versatility, making terrific plays on special teams and showing up well as a safety and cornerback. He finished the year with some solid production, racking up 55 tackles, a sack, a pair of passes defended, a forced fumble, a punt return touchdown, and plenty of yardage on both kick-off and punt returns.

Hyde suffered an injury in Sunday’s comeback win over the New York Jets, as he left in the first half with a left knee injury in the first half and did not return. Thankfully, ESPN Wisconsin’s Jason Wilde reports that Hyde stated he will play in this week’s rivalry game against the Detroit Lions, who are looking to bounce back from a rough defeat to the Carolina Panthers after their top-notch passing attack dominated the New York Giants in Week 1. Matthew Stafford and Matt Ryan were the top two QBs in Week 1, but both were horrible in Week 2 losses.
The Packers secondary will have their hands full with Calvin Johnson and Co., so it’s great to hear that Hyde’s knee won’t be an issue. Tramon Williams and Sam Shields have been excellent through two weeks, while I’ve liked what I’ve seen from talented rookie safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, though consistency will be the key for him (that, however, wasn’t an issue for him at Alabama).
