Andre Ellington Injury: Arizona Cardinals RB practices today

facebooktwitterreddit

Arizona Cardinals star running back Andre Ellington slogged through a foot injury in Week 2 but still emerged with over 100 yards of total offense, as he and superstar 3-4 DE Calais Campbell were the main reasons for the Cards gritty victory over the reeling New York Giants. With Drew Stanton starting in the place of gameday inactive Carson Palmer, the Cardinals predictably did not come close to threatening the Giants through the air. But Ellington’s 91 rushing yards on just 15 carries helped keep things ticking, and it was impressive to see the sprightly star back play through the pain.

  • Ellington missed practice yesterday due to the foot pain, but his status was never expected to be in doubt. All concerns have been alleviated, as Cardinals official site beat writer Darren Urban passes along that Ellington was able to put in a limited practice today.

As long as he practices again tomorrow, he should be locked in to start against the rival San Francisco 49ers. With Palmer still a toss-up due to a lack of a timetable on his shoulder nerve injury, Ellington’s healthy and talent are critical. Stepfan Taylor is now the Cardinals No. 2 back after Jonathan Dwyer was arrested for domestic violence yesterday, and, for my money, Dwyer’s time in the league is up.
