Marshawn Lynch returned to practice today

Seattle Seahawks superstar running back Marshawn Lynch missed practice yesterday, and this, of course, caused a little bit of stir given his stature in this league. His status, however, was never in doubt, and his clean bill of health was confirmed today. According to 710 ESPN Seattle’s Liz Mathews, Lynch returned to a full practice today after sitting out yesterday, so any unlikely doubts should be completely dispelled at this point.

  • Lynch’s day off yesterday was likely some blend of veteran rest and a break due to some back pain. After blasting the Green Bay Packers helpless front seven in Week 1 to the tune of 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns, Lynch received just six carries against the San Diego Chargers but turned them into a nifty 36 yards to go with his four receptions for 27 yards. Although Lynch isn’t much of a receiving back, he did catch 36 passes last year, so he can at least participate in that facet of the game.

The Seahawks will take on the Denver Broncos this week in the Super Bowl rematch, which obviously makes it the game of the week. Although the ‘Hawks are coming off of a loss to Philip Rivers and the AFC West’s San Diego Chargers, it was an anomaly of a game against a team, as the Broncos know, that excels at upsetting elite teams with their ball-control offense that is led by the NFL’s most accurate quarterback.
