Maurice Jones-Drew does ‘good job’ at practice
Oakland Raiders starting running back Maurice Jones-Drew missed the team’s Week 2 loss to the Houston Texans with a hand injury that needed surgery, and, remarkably enough, the Raiders actually listed him as questionable. I mean, it was obvious that he wasn’t going to play, and it’s a bit disconcerting when a head coach gives such an incredibly misleading injury tag. It wasn’t a big deal, though, even if the Raiders decision to play pretend with Jones-Drew’s injury status caused some to shake their heads.

MJD is still a toss-up for this week’s big game against the New England Patriots, as he was worried earlier this week about his ability to play. However, he returned to practice yesterday and is listed questionable, meaning that he is expected to play on Sunday (given his practice status).
According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Vic Tafur, Raiders head coach Dennis Allen stated that Jones-Drew did a “good job” at practice today, and he stated that the team was impressed with their RB, adding that they still want to see what he can do. The severity of the hand injury hasn’t been released or leaked by the awfully quiet Raiders, and you would be forgiven for not trusting the questionable tag. But I would trust his practice status, and even though he looks like a game-time decision, he should be out there against New England.
