Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno was a huge part of the team’s Week 1 win over the rival New England Patriots, as he rushed for over 100 yards behind some great blocking from the offensive tackles and (this was a huge surprise) journeyman center Samson Satele. Unfortunately, Moreno left the team’s Week 2 rivalry matchup against the Buffalo Bills with an injury, and the ‘Fins were unable to win or get enough push up front.

Moreno is dealing with a dislocated elbow, and his initial timeline was set at four to eight weeks, meaning that he could return anywhere from Week 6 to Week 10 under this rough timeline. The Dolphins brought back Daniel Thomas in order to replenish the lost depth at the position and to give them a familiar RB who can spell current feature back Lamar Miller.
According to the Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson, Moreno told teammates that he’s trying to come back in Week 6, when the Dolphins take on the Green Bay Packers in what will be a big test. It wouldn’t be a big test, however, for the running backs, as the Packers front seven isn’t exactly the best around when it comes to stopping the run. But the Dolphins will need all the help they can get on offense from their talented duo of running backs, as they will have to keep up with the Packers high-powered offense.
It makes sense for Moreno to target the short end of his timeline and come back after the team’s bye week, but it’s going to be a real race for him to make it back by then.
