The most talked about wide receiver heading into the Monday Night Football matchup is Chicago Bears No. 3 receiver Santonio Holmes, who will be facing his old team and doesn’t seem to be interested in showing some kindness to the New York Jets. But while Holmes is drawing some headlines due to the reunion, there are three excellent, big-name wide receivers whose play on the field make them big talking points.

Jets WR Eric Decker is the team’s only potent threat in the passing game right now, and it’s not a surprise that they blew the game against the Green Bay Packers and couldn’t conjure up anything on offense after he went down with a hamstring injury. The Bears WR duo of Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery is arguably the best in the league (take your pick between those two and the Atlanta Falcons beastly tandem of Julio Jones and Roddy White), and both were once in doubt for last week’s big Sunday night clash against the San Francisco 49ers. Both played, and Marshall played a crucial role in the victory by showing off his red zone prowess with three TDs; he already has four this year.
The NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones reports that Marshall and Jeffery are once again questionable with ankle and hamstring injuries respectively. Neither player is in any sort of doubt for Monday night, and they both have incredibly favorable matchups against the Jets secondary; this could be a coming-out party for the Bears explosive offense.
As for the Jets, star wideout Eric Decker is in some doubt against the Bears, though he didn’t need an MRI on his hamstring. Decker is also listed questionable on the injury report and could end up being a game-time decision. He is, however, expected to play due to the progress he’s made, his importance to the team, and positive remarks made by Rex Ryan.
