DeSean Jackson Injury: Washington Redskins ‘planning’ on WR playing

facebooktwitterreddit

Washington Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be a game-time decision for today’s big rivalry matchup with the clear division-favorite Philadelphia Eagles, and D-Jax is doing whatever he can to play despite injuring his shoulder in last week’s blowout win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Jackson wants to “stick it” to the Eagles, who released him for reasons that are still unclear, and it would be sweet revenge for him to play through an injury and lead the Redskins to an upset victory.

  • ESPN 980’s Chris Russell reports that the Redskins are “planning” on having DeSean Jackson active against the Eagles, which sounds like great news. The only issue is that pushing Jackson too much could lead to an aggravation, and that would be the worst-case scenario for the Redskins, especially given how D-Jax can change the complexion of a game with his playmaking ability.

In Week 1, Jackson caught eight passes, but he would figure to play less of a role in the offense if he does indeed play through the pain today. I think Jackson will suit up, but he’s still a game-time decision and will likely have his snaps limited to avoid the chances of aggravation and to make sure that the Redskins are optimizing his big-play opportunities.
