Arian Foster Injury: Houston Texans RB a ‘longshot’ to play
Houston Texans star running back Arian Foster was listed questionable with hamstring injury, and even though he was able to put in limited practices throughout the week, it looks like he is going to sit today’s game out against the spiraling, 0-2 New York Giants. At this point, it looks like nobody expects Foster to play, especially since risking aggravation to his hamstring injury could have disastrous effects for a Texans team that relies on him as the focal point of their offense with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick starting.

Per sources close to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Foster is deemed a “longshot” to play in today’s game, which is a very pessimistic forecast indeed. Fantasy football owners need to watch his status closely since he’s a game-time decision, but I would remove him from your starting lineup; it’s clear that he isn’t expected to play.
Foster already has 55 carries this season with four receptions for 29 yards to boot, so new Texans head coach Bill O’Brien wasn’t kidding when he said that he would make Foster his bellcow. While that makes plenty of sense if your goal is to win games with Fitzpatrick under center, it doesn’t make sense if your goal is to preserve a star player who has clearly been overworked throughout his career and missed half of the 2013 season as a result of that. The Texans will give plenty of carries to Alfred Blue, who should get the start today, and hopefully that’s a trend that continues; Blue is worth watching.
