Bernard Pierce Injury: Baltimore Ravens RB in ‘serious doubt’
Baltimore Ravens starting running back Bernard Pierce was downgraded to a limited practice on Thursday with a thigh injury, and while mid-week downgrades normally cause some concern, the fact that Pierce was able to practice didn’t cause any major concerns to arise. However, he was listed questionable by the Ravens a day later, and they picked up former Michigan RB Fitzgerald Toussaint to add insurance depth to a position that has become thin for them.

The signing of Toussaint caused some to start worrying about Pierce’s thigh injury, but he was still largely expected to play in today’s rivalry game against the tough Cleveland Browns run defense. But now there are some “rumblings” that there is “serious doubt” about his ability to play, per the Baltimore Sun’s Aaron Wilson, who adds that Pierce is a game-time decision.
If Pierce is unable to play, then Justin Forsett would receive the lion’s share of the workload, and the Ravens change-of-pace RB showed enough in a strong Week 1 performance to inspire some level of confidence. Pierce, of course, is coming off of a nice outing against the Pittsburgh Steelers with 96 yards on 22 carries after flopping in Week 1 and getting benched following a fumble (this led to Forsett carrying the torch at RB).
