Denver Broncos slot receiver Wes Welker will be playing his first game of the 2014 season after being reinstated following his suspension, and he also suffered a concussion. Welker is fully healthy now and listed probable on the injury report, as he didn’t suffer any setbacks and looks ready to get to work against the Seattle Seahawks elite secondary.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen expects, via Rotoworld, the Broncos to keep Wes Welker to a limited role on offense, as he believes the veteran will get his snaps on third downs or other scenarios in order to restrict his snaps. The Broncos are clearly worried about Welker’s health due to his frequent concussions, and the Seahawks defense sure as heck knows how to blast pass-catchers, especially those who do their work over the middle of the field. Moreover, it makes sense to ease Welk into things in his first game back.
Mort’s expectation matches what CBS Sports’s Jason La Canfora reported earlier today (link to our article on it above), as he tweeted that Welker will likely have his snaps restricted despite not suffering any setbacks from his concussion. I think Welker should get a nice diet of looks when he’s on the field, but fantasy football owners clearly need to leave him on the bench this week; he has just about no upside this week.
