Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery Injury Updates: Chicago Bears ‘optimistic’
The Chicago Bears elite wide receiver duo of Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall was initially expected to be completely out of commission last week against the San Francisco 49ers, but both players played through the pain and helped lead the Bears to an impressive Sunday Night Football victory over a top-notch team. Marshall’s red zone prowess and Kyle Fuller’s ball skills helped carry the day for the Bears, who are looking to avoid a letdown performance tonight on Monday Night Football against the New York Jets, as No. 3 wideout Santonio Holmes looks to extract revenge on his hold team.

Holmes was expected to be a factor last week against the 49ers with Jeffery and Marshall playing at less than 100%, but he caught just two passes for 20 yards. Tonight, he might have a similar statistical output, though anything is possible against a Jets secondary that has a few quality pieces, almost no depth, and nobody capable of stopping an elite weapon like Marshall or Jeffery.
Both players are listed questionable on the injury report for the second straight week, but they are both fully expected to play tonight. The Chicago Tribune’s Dan Wiederer reports that the Bears are “optimistic” that both can play, and it sounds like they will play if a “surprise” setback does not occur. It’s great news for the Bears, who could have a coming-out party on offense tonight.
