Chicago Bears Injury Updates: Shea McClellin, Roberto Garza, Matt Slauson
Chicago Bears strong-side linebacker Shea McClellin suffered a broken hand last week during practice and was thus ruled out of the Monday Night Football game over the New York Jets. According to Michael C. Wright of ESPN Chicago, Bears head coach Marc Trestman already announced that McClellin will not practice this week and has thus been ruled out for the big rivalry game against the Green Bay Packers. McClellin is most well-known around the league for breaking Aaron Rodgers’s collarbone last year, and it will be interesting to see if second-year pro Jon Bostic can continue to play well in his place.

The Bears have plenty of talent on the interior of the offensive line, and I honestly hope offseason signing Brian de la Puente, who is one of the most underrated players in the league, continues to start at center, even when the solid Robert Garza comes back. Fortunately for the former New Orleans Saint (but unfortunately for the Bears, Trestman isn’t “optimistic” that either Garza or fellow solid interior OL Matt Slauson will be able to play this week.
Both Garza and Slauson are dealing with ankle injuries that they suffered back in the Week 1 overtime loss to the surprise Buffalo Bills, and it’s interesting to see that Slauson is still expected to be out. Garza is nursing a high-ankle sprain, so it would be a stretch to expect him to return against Green Bay.
