Carolina Panthers star outside linebacker Thomas Davis is well-known around the league for persevering through several serious knee injuries, and he’s actually emerged better than before. That said, it’s always scary when you hear about a player with an extensive injury history going down with a recent ailment, and Davis suffered an unspecified injury in the Panthers Sunday Night Football loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • Davis missed practice yesterday, and there were plenty of worries that he could miss this week’s game, especially since the Panthers signed a linebacker to take Mike Tolbert’s place on the active roster (Tolbert was placed on the short-term injured reserve after suffering a hairline fracture).

However, the Panthers received some great news today, as the leader and top-notch linebacker returned to practice today on a limited basis. I still don’t think he’s out of the woods yet, but he will most likely play this week against the Baltimore Ravens if he can put in another limited practice tomorrow. Without many details right now, it’s hard to tell if Davis could come down to a game-time decision.

So far this season, the 31-year-old has recorded 19 tackles and a pass defended after being one of the best LBs in the league last year with career-highs in tackles (123), sacks (4), and passes defended (8).
