New Orleans Saints list Jonathan Goodwin questionable
New Orleans Saints veteran center Jonathan Goodwin has had a ho-hum start to his reunion with the organization after re-signing with the Saints in the offseason following a three-year stint as the San Francisco 49ers starting center. Goodwin left last week’s game against the Minnesota Vikings with an injury that was difficult to distinguish, but it didn’t look good as he needed to be carted off to the locker room.

Goodwin is nursing a high-ankle sprain in his left ankle, but he is actually recovering much faster than most players from what is usually a multi-week injury. In fact, Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate reports that the Saints are officially listing Goodwin as questionable on the injury report, meaning that he has a fair shot at playing against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football this week.
After being able to return to a limited practice today, the veteran center looks like a potential game-time decision. If Goodwin isn’t active, then the Saints would start intriguing second-year UDFA Tim Lelito, but it’s more ideal to play the veteran if he’s healthy enough to suit up. It’s worth monitoring his status closely on gameday, but a positive note is the fact that the Dallas Cowboys DT-MLB tandem of Henry Melton and Rolando McClain are listed questionable after only returning to practice today.
