New Orleans Saints Injury News: Patrick Robinson, Jonathan Goodwin

facebooktwitterreddit

The New Orleans Saints should be able to rack up points on the Dallas Cowboys defense tomorrow night, and we could end up witnessing a real points-fest that could draw parallels to last year’s epic battle between Tony Romo and Peyton Manning when the Cowboys took on the Denver Broncos. Drew Brees and the Saints should be able to click with relative ease, especially if Cowboys star defensive players Henry Melton and Rolando McClain aren’t able to suit up (both are highly questionable despite getting some practice in).

  • Speaking of players who are questionable, Saints cornerback Patrick Robinson and center Jonathan Goodwin are both listed questionable on the injury report as well. The excellent Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate wrote up his four projected inactives for Sunday night’s game, and he has Robinson sitting out with a hamstring injury. Robinson, who operates as the team’s No. 2 corner opposite of ace coverage man Keenan Lewis, missed practice on Friday, thus putting him in huge doubt. Sudden absences on Friday due to injury rarely bode well, and Underhill believes we could see promising Nebraska rookie Stanley Jean-Baptiste suit up tomorrow.

While Underhill believes that Robinson will be out today, he has Jonathan Goodwin suiting up against a Cowboys defense that could miss two players who would definitely keep the veteran busy if they play. Goodwin suffered an apparent high-ankle sprain, but he was able to practice and is expected to play due to what has been a quick recovery. Underhill notes that if Goodwin doesn’t suit up, deep threat Joe Morgan would be the benefactor by landing on the 46-man gameday roster.
