Arian Foster Injury: Houston Texans expect RB to play
Houston Texans star running back Arian Foster was unable to play last week against the New York Giants due to a hamstring injury, but he is expected to make his return today against the Buffalo Bills. Hamstring injuries are always a big worry with veteran running backs who have endured a huge workload over the course of their career, so hopefully Texans head coach Bill O’Brien adjusts his approach following this likely one-week injury by giving the talented, young Alfred Blue more touches to spell Foster. This would help prolong Foster’s career and better optimize the all-around workhorse’s carries.

ESPN NFL Nation’s Tania Ganguli reports that the Texans are planning to play Foster today, though how many carries he gets will, per Ganguli, depend on how healthy his hamstring looks during pre-game warm-ups. He looked like a full-blown game-time decision heading into today’s game, especially after comments made by O’Brien. But now, it looks like the “decision” the Texans will have to make based on his health is the carry split between him and Blue.
Arian Foster is averaging 4.4 yards per carry so far this season after taking in a whopping 59 touches in his first two games, with 55 coming on the ground and four coming via the air in the form of receptions. Foster continues to be one of the league’s best backs, and we can only hope that O’Brien swerves away from the early Gary Kubiak method by finally using a talented RB2 to support Foster.
