Eric Decker Injury: New York Jets WR expected to have limited snaps
New York Jets star wide receiver Eric Decker has always planned on playing in today’s game against the Detroit Lions after suffering an apparent aggravation of his hamstring injury from Week 2. Decker, who was initially listed questionable last week, pulled up lame against the Chicago Bears and was forced to leave early, and we can only hope that he avoids a similar situation against another NFC North squad today. There’s little doubt that Decker is one of the team’s most important players, so they can ill-afford him to suffer a more serious aggravation; hamstring injuries are indeed tricky business.

That said, the Jets can’t be too cautious with Decker’s health, because they know that they need him and they also know that he will do whatever he can do be out there. While Decker is indeed expected to play today against the Lions, he is also expected to have a limited role. The extent of this limitation is unclear, as Jets head coach Rex Ryan only stated that the team would restrict their No. 1 wideout’s role in some form.
ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini reports that he believes Decker will have a “situational” role today against the Lions, and he explained that he expects to see Decker out there on third-downs and in three-wide sets (among others). I’m sure red zone plays are also included on that list, but Decker has so much bust potential in fantasy football today that you should strongly consider benching him this week, though the Lions are a favorable matchup.
