The Carolina Panthers will have just three healthy running backs ready for today’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, and DeAngelo Williams will be tasked with carrying the load after only recently recovering from his own ailment. Williams is just about at 100% now after missing time, and he’s played well when healthy. Williams suffered a thigh injury in Week 1 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after turning just 14 carries into 72 yards, but he missed the past two weeks with the injury.

There’s no doubt that the Panthers need him now, as Mike Tolbert is on the short-term injured reserve with a hairline fracture and No. 2 back Jonathan Stewart has been officially ruled inactive with a knee injury after being listed questionable on the injury report. J-Stew is a regular injury risk, and his place on the inactive list was always expected. He somehow managed to practice on Friday, but he predictably did not look good.
Fantasy owners who were considering playing Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jarrett Boykin need to pull him out of the lineup, because he is, as was fully expected, ruled inactive for today’s rivalry matchup against the Chicago Bears. Boykin’s absence will allow rookies Davante Adams and Jeff Janis to garner targets, as Janis will be active for the first time this year and Adams will move into the No. 3 role. Hopefully Adams can take over as the No. 3 receiver, because he’s played significantly better than Boykin so far this year.
