San Francisco 49ers star tight end Vernon Davis was never expected to play in last week’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, as he suffered a nasty ankle injury in the previous game against the Chicago Bears. Davis was spotted on crutches following the game, and even some optimistic progress on Friday couldn’t stop him from being listed doubtful and being inactive. He’s clearly healthier this week, and he actually practiced throughout the week.

Despite his three-day practice status, Davis, who is also dealing with a knee ailment, isn’t a lock to play and could end up being a game-time decision. However, it looks like the 49ers are more optimistic on his status than before, as the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Vernon Davis is “good to go” for today’s marquee matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Davis has a good chance to do some damage today, and the 49ers chances of victor will likely rest on their passing attack against the Eagles explosive offense, especially their secondary isn’t at full strength with Tramaine Brock out and Antoine Bethea questionable. The “good to go” indicates that the 49ers have no worries about Davis’s availability, so he could avoid being a game-time decision and simply play without issue.
