Tennessee Titans starting quarterback Jake Locker suffered a wrist injury and has been officially listed as questionable on the injury report for today’s rivalry game against the Indianapolis Colts. However, nobody expects him to play, and his “questionable” listing is an incredibly generous one from Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt. While Locker has made some decent progress over the course of the week, he clearly isn’t in any shape to play at this point.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported earlier this morning that the Titans will indeed start veteran quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, who is a career backup affectionately known as “Clipboard Jesus”. He’ll, thankfully, face one of the league’s most inept pass defenses in the Indianapolis Colts, but he should still be ineffective, barring some surprising play. Delanie Walker and Kendall Wright give him two of the most reliable targets in the game, though playmaking second-year pro Justin Hunter has been anything but reliable after receiving an inordinate amount of training camp hype from all circles.
Locker’s status going forward is unknown, but some of the optimism indicates that he’s tentatively expected to miss just one week with this wrist injury. As for Whitehurst, he heads into this game without an attempted pass since 2011.
