Mike Evans Injury: Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR expected to be out 2-3 weeks

Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie wide receiver Mike Evans is an absolute beast, and he was able to show off  his stuff in yesterday’s comeback, last-gasp victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in what was easily Sunday’s wildest game. Evans, who has caught at least four passes in the first four games of his career despite poor quarterback play, hauled in four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown, with his TD being an impressive one on Cortez Allen, who was playing good football for the Steelers for the first time since signing an extension.

  • Not everything went well for Evans yesterday, though, because the Texas A&M Aggies product picked up a left groin injury in the third quarter, and it didn’t look good at all. After not hearing any word of the severity of the injury, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that the Buccaneers expect Evans to miss 2-3 weeks with the injury.

FOX Sports’s Mike Garafolo also reported the injury, reminding us that the Buccaneers bye week is in three weeks. Although Evans is a critical player to the Bucs already, it makes more sense to rest up their rookie through the bye week to make sure that he’s fully healthy. It’s never a good idea to risk aggravation, especially to a young, talented player who appeared to be in quite a bit of pain when he first suffered the injury.
