San Francisco 49ers No. 3 wide receiver Stevie Johnson had one of the highlights of the week in yesterday’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles, as Johnson hauled in a ridiculous 12-yard touchdown pass. I don’t know how Johnson managed to keep his feet in bounds to come down with that one for six, but the former Buffalo Bills No. 1 wideout showed off some pretty impressive athletic ability and body control (he’s always been known for that) in the end zone. Johnson had little room to maneuver with Eagles CB Cary Williams covering him closely in the front-left corner, and the awareness he displayed on that reception was just uncanny.

What makes the catch even more impressive is the fact that Johnson had to fend off some sort of an illness all day long. According to 49ers official site beat writer Andrew Pentis, head coach Jim Harbaugh stated that Johnson “sucked it up” after coming into the game with a “bug”. Now that’s impressive.
Johnson has 14 receptions for 174 yards so far this season for the 49ers, with yesterday’s TD being his first of the season. He hasn’t been a big factor for the 49ers, but he showed us that he can still make things happen and also does a great job of giving Colin Kaepernick more talented options to hit up. Defenses have to be wary of a multitude of weapons in the 49ers offense, including the ones on the ground.
