Teddy Bridgewater expected to play
Minnesota Vikings rookie quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was firing on all cylinders in yesterday’s victory over the Atlanta Falcons, as he shredded a porous pass defense and looked like the player who graced the top position of most draftnik’s boards. Bridgewater’s football IQ, accuracy, poise, and underrated physical tools were all on display in an outing that was both efficient and electric, and it was a dream first start for him.

Well, it was a dream up until he was carted off the field with an ankle injury, but it doesn’t seem to be a serious issue. In fact, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press’s Chris Tomasson, both Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer and backup quarterback Christian Ponder expect Bridgewater to play on Thursday night against the rival Green Bay Packers.
Zimmer stated that he “assumes” Bridgewater will play, and Ponder chimed in, “I think (Bridgewater is) going to be fine. For next week, I’ll prepare just in case, but I don’t know what is going to happen. … With a short week, you obviously don’t have as much time. But we’ll see.”
The Packers were dominant against the Chicago Bears yesterday, turning our “Game of the Week” into an impressive blowout that showcased just how ridiculously good Aaron Rodgers is. More importantly for Bridgewater, the Packers secondary is quite scary now that they are playing up to their potential. Ha Ha Clinton-Dix deserves more “rookie standout” love, Sam Shields is playing at an incredibly high level, and Tramon Williams finally looks good again.
