Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno will take a backup seat to feature back Lamar Miller, who has superior talent and deserves to receive the lion’s share of the carries, once he returns from his injury, but Moreno will still play an important role in the offense. Not only is the former Denver Broncos 1,000-yard rusher an excellent pass protector with solid pass-catching chops, but he gives the Dolphins one of the league’s better 1-2 punches on the ground when healthy. If both the running game and passing game can click at the same time, then the Dolphins will fulfill their massive potential on offense.

According to the Palm Beach Post’s Andrew Abramson, Moreno stated that he’s still about four weeks away from making his return from a dislocated elbow that he suffered in the team’s Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Moreno was initially slapped with a 4-8 week timetable, and he’s always been targeting a Week 6 return in order to meet the lower end of that timetable (though that was always optimistic).
If he is indeed four weeks away, then Moreno should be expected to return in Week 8 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which means that Moreno would have missed six weeks due to the injury. The Dolphins are currently on a bye week and will face the Green Bay Packers in Week 6 with Miller set to take advantage of one of the league’s most anemic run defenses.
