Cordarrelle Patterson questionable to return with hip injury

The Minnesota Vikings look lost tonight on Thursday Night Football, and we’ll get to see a blowout loss between division rivals for a third straight TNF after seeing the Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants dominate the overmatched Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins, respectively, in the past two weeks. Today’s game might be the most lopsided one yet, as Christian Ponder has been forced to start after Teddy Bridgewater’s ankle injury was seemingly worse than the Vikings expected (either that or they are simply  being cautious with their rookie franchise QB, who is clearly better than Ponder, on a short week). Ponder has been predictably awful, and Aaron Rodgers had had an even easier time slicing open the Vikings secondary.

  • To make matters worse for the Vikings, talented second-year wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson, per the Packers official Twitter account, is questionable to return to the game after leaving with a hip injury of unknown severity. We can only hope Patterson is OK, because it would be downright dirty for the Vikings to lose one of their most physically gifted playmakers in a blowout loss to a rival.

Patterson caught two passes on four targets for just eight yards before going down, and he is one of just three players on the Vikings to record multiple receptions with Ponder going a ghastly 9-22 for 66 yards, three yards per attempt, and three picks with no TDs. While I understand that the Vikings don’t have the best running backs, the Packers have a talented secondary, and he’s been hit an unsightly 12 times, but that’s just ridiculously inefficient.
