Calvin Johnson Injury: Detroit Lions WR told teammates he’ll play
Like last week, Detroit Lions star wide receiver Calvin Johnson has been listed questionable on the injury report after missing two practices with an ankle injury, and, like last week, he’s expected to be out there. Johnson should be healthier than he was when he faced the New York Jets in Week 4, as he was limited to catching two passes in a decoy role, which helped Golden Tate explode. The Buffalo Bills won’t present a tough test for the Lions wide receivers, though I’m sure the offensive line will be kept busy, even with Kyle Williams listed doubtful with an injury that is probably nastier than we know.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Calvin Johnson confirmed to teammates that he will be playing against the Bills today despite having a “gimpy” ankle (Rapoport’s words there), but Rapoport is worried that Johnson won’t look “himself” due to the injury.
With Joique Bell and Theo Riddick ruled out, the Lions running game will feature an awful lot of Reggie Bush with a dash of George Winn, and I highlighted one of the Lions key matchups as Bush vs. Bills on the ground.
So far this season, Johnson has hauled in 21 passes for 341 yards and two touchdowns, and you can bet those numbers would have been out of the stratosphere had he been healthy enough to feast against the Jets.
