Calvin Johnson, Jonathan Stewart Injury Updates

Detroit Lions star wide receiver Calvin Johnson has always been expected to play in today’s game against the Buffalo Bills, and that expectation hasn’t waned despite some concerns that he could even be featured in a decoy role. All of those fears have largely been allayed, as Johnson hasn’t showed any issues on his ankle after telling teammates that he would indeed suit up for today’s game.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Megatron, who was officially listed as questionable on the Lions injury report, is active today, and this is obviously great news for Lions fans and fantasy owners alike. With a week of rest under his belt, Johnson isn’t expected to be limited today against the Bills, and both he and Golden Tate look ready to go.

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathan Stewart, on the other hand, was never really a legit threat to play today against the Chicago Bears, and the USA Today’s Tom Pelissero confirms that Stewart is indeed inactive today. The Panthers rushing attack won’t be able to take advantage of the Bears run defense, though the Bears will be much better up front this week in the pass-rushing department with Jared Allen set to return (he’s listed probable on the injury report). The Bears did a nice job of bottling up Eddie Lacy last week before Lacy tore up the easy Minnesota Vikings on TNF.
