New York Jets David Harris not practicing
New York Jets veteran linebacker David Harris suffered a shoulder injury in last week’s 31-0 loss to the San Diego Chargers, and he is considered day-to-day with what has been diagnosed as a sprained AC joint. Although it’s a painful injury, it’s one that Harris can play through, but his status for this week’s game against the Denver Broncos should still be considered questionable at this early juncture.

According to Rich Cimini of ESPN New York, Harris is not practicing today, and this was always expected on the first day of Jets practice following the game (and his injury). Harris needed an MRI done on his shoulder, but it looks like there isn’t any damage outside of the sprained AC joint.
Harris has 39 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble so far this season, and he’s consistently been one of the league’s better run defenders in addition to being a key leader on the Jets defense. His pass coverage skills and overall play have deteriorated with age, but he’s still Rex Ryan’s quarterback and glue guy on defense, and he can still set the tone in the running game with his experience, intelligent, and steady playing style.
If Harris isn’t able to play this week against the Broncos, then the Jets communication on defense will suffer, and it would also give Ronnie Hillman a boost in the Denver backfield.
