Cincinnati Bengals Vontaze Burfict suffers another head injury

Cincinnati Bengals star outside linebacker Vontaze Burfict has had some extremely bad luck on the injury front this season, and, more disturbingly, all of this issues have been head injuries. After missing time with two different concussions this season, Burfict took a third shot to the head in today’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

  • According to Paul Dehner Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Bengals have officially announced that Burfict is questionable to return after this latest head injury, and we can only hope that it’s not another concussion. I wouldn’t expect him to return today, because the Bengals have to be incredibly cautious with a player who continues to receive head injuries. These kinds of repeated hits can be career and life-threatening once they add up, so this third incident is not to be taken lightly.

The Bengals are already without A.J. Green, who aggravated a toe injury, and still can’t get Marvin Jones back on the field, so the hits just keep on coming for Marvin Lewis’s squad. That said, Hue Jackson has done a great job thus far of covering up the Bengals injuries on offense, while the defense is used to playing without Burfict and has more than sufficient depth at the linebacker position; the major impact with this injury is Burfict’s health going forward, and we can only sit tight and keep our fingers crossed.
