Denver Broncos Danny Trevathan suffers left leg injury

Denver Broncos star outside linebacker Danny Trevathan missed the first four weeks of the regular season with fractured left tibia, and he made his 2014 regular season debut last week against the Arizona Cardinals, recording seven tackles in the team’s impressive victory on Sunday afternoon. Trevathan is one of the best linebackers in the game, as he is a dominant all-around playmaker capable of mixing things up with almost anyone in coverage, making plays in run defense, or even blitzing a bit when asked.

Unfortunately, it looks like the Broncos could lose Trevathan for another lengthy chunk of time, because he went down with a lower left leg injury and needed help getting off the field today against the New York Jets. According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post, Trevathan “grabbed” his left knee, and we can only hope that this is a mere scare.

There’s a good chance this could be an aggravation of his significant offseason injury, and that could end up being a huge blow for the Broncos. They suffered plenty of injuries last year and have even more talent on defense, but losing an all-around playmaker at WLB like Trevathan would still be a big loss. Jets CB Dee Milliner also went down today with what looks to be a rather significant injury to his Achilles, though not much is known about either ailment.

The Broncos have announced that Trevathan is questionable to return with a knee injury, and that’s a good, albeit early, sign.

Update: Bad news here, as Trevathan has now been ruled out for the rest of the game.
