Reggie Bush, Calvin Johnson Injury Updates
The Detroit Lions will take on the rival Minnesota Vikings this afternoon at 1:00 p.m. ET, but they will probably have to do it without two of their best skill position players. We always knew that Calvin Johnson would be out for today’s game, as he was officially listed doubtful on the injury report with an ankle injury that he aggravated in last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills. Johnson was listed questionable in the previous two weeks due to the injury, and the Lions are wisely deciding to hold him out in order to make sure he is healthy for the long haul of the regular season.

Per a source close to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Lions are also not expected to have star running back Reggie Bush, who received an increase workload last week with Joique Bell and Theo Riddick ruled out. This week, it’s going to be a mix of Bell, George Winn (who impressed again last week with Bell and Riddick out), and Riddick, whom Rapoport warns us to watch closely. The Lions, as Rapoport notes, have always liked the elusive back, and he receives plenty of intriguing comparisons to current pass-catching backs.
As expected, Rapoport also reports that Calvin Johnson is not expected to play today, and fantasy owners and Lions fans alike should fully expect him to be out. Golden Tate looks poised to have another big game, and he is so talented that I think he could be a No. 1 receiver for some teams in this league.
