Eric Decker, David Nelson expected to play
New York Jets star wide receiver Eric Decker is highly questionable to play in today’s reunion game with the Denver Broncos, who replaced Decker with a new “Fourth Horseman” in Emmanuel Sanders, who currently leads the team in yards per target. Decker is now the only legit playmaker in the Jets passing attack, and it’s not surprising to me that his hamstring injury in the third quarter of the Week 2 loss to the Green Bay Packers led to an in-game collapse that Geno Smith and the team haven’t recovered from. Smith and the offense would have struggled regardless, but Decker’s hamstring injury has exacerbated things.

Decker is officially listed as questionable on the injury report, and the Jets aren’t sure if he is healthy enough to play. He aggravated the injury back in Week 3 against the Chicago Bears after the Jets foolishly kept pushing the envelope with a hamstring injury to their most important offensive player, and they finally held him out last week. We’ll see if he’s healthy enough to play, and ESPN New York’s plugged-in Rich Cimini expects both Decker and fellow wide receiver David Nelson to play today.
Nelson is also listed questionable, and he’s dealing with an ankle injury after getting two limited practice sessions in on Thursday and Friday. Not only has Nelson been hobbled by injury this season, but he’s also been incredibly ineffective when he’s seen the field, catching just seven passes for 54 yards.
